Some of you may have noticed that when you try to reach the Food.com Forums a message pops up that says “We’ll Be Right Back.”
The behind the scenes story is that we put the curtain up on the forums on June 2nd to perform unexpected maintenance/repairs, and it’s taking a little longer than originally anticipated to get the forums up and running again.
We’re really sorry about the inconvenience to the community. At present there is no estimated time as to when a fix will occur, which we understand isn’t ideal. Please hang tight and stay tuned to this post for updates regarding the forums. The team is hard at work!
UPDATE 6/16/14 – The forums are still broken and we unfortunately have not been able to get them back up and running despite best efforts. An additional update will be posted here once we have a better idea of what to do going forward, in the event we are unable to fix the forums 100%. We understand this is frustrating, but unfortunately outside of an immediate fix, the best we can advise is to sit tight while the outage is investigated further.
UPDATE 6/20/14 – Unfortunately, due to unexpected issues, the Food.com forums are no longer going to be available. We are incredibly sorry for this and appreciate all of the time, effort and energy you have actively contributed over the years. The good news is that we are working to transition the forums into a temporary read-only format, so that you can copy, paste and save threads from the years. We should have this available in two weeks time. The bad news is that commenting functionality is no longer available. To replace the interaction within the forums, we are currently hard at work to introduce a new community experience to the site. Please stay tuned to this post for timing on the availability of the read-only forums.
UPDATE 7/22/14 - There have been a few complications that have delayed the release of the read-only forums. We have a team dedicated to it and are hard at work. While this is proving to be slightly more complicated than anticipated, we hope to have the read-only forums accessible soon. More updates on timing will be provided as they become available.
